News From Nurse Nancy
There has been a lot of illness in the last few weeks as you all are aware of. Several different viruses (not the flu (influenza) that the flu shot or mist are for) are making there way through our community and school. The CDC has many reports of the norovirus (stomach flu/viral gastroenteritis), and many respiratory viruses, which include enteroviruses (a cold’s cousin) and RSV (Respiratory Syncytial Virus). Antibiotics will not help, unless a secondary infection develops. The best prevention is HANDWASHING AND COVERING COUGHS! If your child should become ill, please don’t send them back to school until they have been fever free for twenty -four hours. More information may be searched on the Center for Disease Control web site at www.cdc.gov.
